Beci Orpin is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Melbourne. Her work moves between illustration, art direction, textile design and craft. With this broad practice being united by a signature application of colour, shape and optimism. 

Since completing a B.A.Textile Design in 1997 and launching her studio, Beci has established herself as a leading figure in the Australian creative community. She has collaborated with major brands including Apple, Google, Disney, Uniqlo and Urban Outfitters. While her work with national organisations such as The Australian Ballet, Melbourne International Film Festival and Sportsgirl has seen her joyful style become a beloved cornerstone of Melbourne's evolving aesthetic identity.

Alongside her extensive commercial experience, Beci’s personal art practice has led her to exhibit work around the globe, with solo exhibitions in Melbourne, Sydney and New York. As well as enjoy significant acclaim as the author and illustrator of 10 internationally published books for children and adults.

Across her 25 year career, these expansive efforts have been linked by her enduring commitment to art as a vehicle to form community. A longstanding mentor figure within the Melbourne creative scene, she has lectured and led workshops at various local and national institutions, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Craft Victoria, Semi-Permanent Conference, Melbourne Design Week and Royal Childrens Hospital among many others. Beci has also worked on various community-based public art projects, funded by both government and private enterprise.

Many of her proudest achievements have been in the not for profit space. She has collaborated on projects and events for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, Water Aid, VICSEG and Save the Children.

In 2022, Beci moved into her new Brunswick studio which she shares with several other creatives. The space serves as a physical extension of her lifelong creative and social values, acting as a collective gathering point for the next generation to come together.
