The Future is Not For Humans is a continuation of Yusk Imai’s exploration of what it means to be human in an age of rapid technological advancement.
In this series of works, Imai imagines a future where human beings ‘glitch’ as they struggle through the evolutionary changes necessary for existence in a wholly non-physical reality. One where self-identity, perception and human connection have become a purely digital experience.
Dissolving relationships, dissociating from their identities, shedding flesh. They transform into fragmented, formless digital ghosts; untethered from all that made them human.
What remains is the transcendence of our specifies. A post-organic neo human. Freed from the constraints of biology and physical connection, limitless and alone, they wander in search of something they don’t yet comprehend.
